You're in control of your personal data on MimWise. You can see what we hold, get a copy, fix mistakes, delete the lot, or challenge an AI-generated decision — in most cases without emailing us at all. This page is a plain-English guide to those rights; the legally binding detail is in the Privacy Policy.
If you live in the UK your rights come from the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 (as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2024). If you live in the EEA they come from the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679). The rights below are effectively the same in both regimes.
Read the Privacy Policy — it tells you what data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and who we share it with. The plain-English summary at the top of that page is the “you don't have to read the whole thing” version.
While signed in, hit POST /api/user/export-data/
from the dashboard to download a JSON copy of everything we hold
about you. If you can't access the dashboard for any reason,
email us and we'll send the same file within 30 days.
Most fields (name, year of birth, preferences) are editable from Settings. For anything you can't change yourself — for example the email tied to your Google sign-in — email privacy@mimwise.co.uk.
From the dashboard, click Delete my data. This runs our one-click cascading erasure flow: behavioural events wiped, AI summaries cleared, marketing email queue voided, your email pushed onto the suppression list, account deactivated. You get back a structured receipt summarising the rows we touched. The full runbook is in our internal Data Deletion Runbook and we're happy to share it on request.
If you want us to stop processing your data but not yet delete it — for example because you're disputing accuracy — email us with a short note. We'll freeze the relevant records and confirm in writing.
The /api/user/export-data/ JSON is structured,
commonly used, and machine-readable, satisfying Art. 20(1). You
can take it to a competitor or import it elsewhere; that's the
point.
Any processing we do on a “legitimate interest” basis — including our first-party analytics — you can object to. Email us with what you'd like stopped and why; we'll respond within 30 days and stop unless we can show a compelling legitimate ground that overrides your objection.
MimWise uses AI to evaluate learning activity and generate progress emails. On any AI feedback page there's a “Request human review” button; it opens a contest record and routes it to a human reviewer on our team. You can also pause AI-generated emails via marketing preferences. For details, see §5 and §5a of the Privacy Policy.
Our internal service-level target is 14 days. The legal limit is 30 days (extensible to 90 days for genuinely complex cases, but we'll tell you if that applies).
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or to your local supervisory authority if you're in the EEA. We'd love a chance to fix things first, but the option is yours.
